Sitting just outside Jacksonville, the Applegate Valley extends for 50 miles from the California border to Grants Pass along the Applegate River. Forested hillsides surround a valley that is fertile and temperate, hosting numerous fields of fragrant lavender, meticulous small family farms growing organic produce, and roaming herds of grass-fed cattle.  Sunset Magazine called the Applegate Valley "Wine Country the way it should be".

The Applegate River flows from the Siskiyou Mountains toward Ruch, then meanders toward Grants Pass  where it feeds into the Rogue River. Parks and picnic spots dot the roadside inviting visitors to spend the day soaking up the beauty of the Applegate Valley.

The Applegate Valley is made up of small non-incorporated communities. Each community offers grocery stores, small restaurants, elementary schools, medical services, salon services and more.

The Applegate Valley is perfectly situated for outdoor activities. The Applegate Lake is surrounded by hiking trails and offers fishing, swimming, and camping areas.
